To qualify for the pro- gram, a family must: 1. Contain at least one individual over the age of 65 years; or who is handi- capped; and 2. Not contain any person physically capable of performing the cleanup which is to be supplied under this program; and 3. Be the sole occupant group of the dwelling unit served by the property to be cleaned under the program. and 4. Have an application completed by an individual within the family unit stating that he/she/they are financially unable to make arrangements for yard cleanup by any other means. Properties serving commercial properties or multiple dwellings will not be cleaned under this program. Application forms are available at the Municipal Office, 12 Simcoe Plaza. am teed RESIDENTS OF TERRACE BAY, PLEASE TAKE NOTICE Under the provisions of Municipal By-Law Number 20-89, being a by-law to control open fires in the Township of Terrace Bay, please take note of the following regulations. There shall be no burning unless the following conditions apply: .| A. Approval from the Chief Fire Official of the Township as evidenced by the issuance of a "Fire Permit or Safe Burning Device Permit"; B. Such burning consists of a small confined fire, supervised at all times and used to cook food on a grill or barbeque; C. Such burning consists of a small campfire supervised at all times on bare rock or a granular soil base, or within a safe burning device. In order to obtain open air burning approvals, any person may make applications to the Chief Fire Official, c/o the Township of Terrace Bay, who has full authority to issue or withhold issuance of a Fire Permit and/or a Safe Burning Device Permit: Any "approved" burning will be carried on between the hours of 0:700 and and 21:00 (9 p.m.), and permits will not be issued for the following: A. Where muskeg is known to be present; B. Where local conditions may lead to the spreading of fires; - C. Within 400 metres of any building or structure. In all instances, only clean brush or other vegetation may be burned and only in piles with maximum height of 2 metres, maximum diameter of 2 metres and sep- arated by at least 7 metres. Of important notice is the elimination of open burning except for cooking or warmth that is contained to a licensed, safe burning device, within all residential areas of Terrace Bay. The North of Superior Trappers Council in conjuc- tion with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources is sponsoring this course for the Terrace Bay- Schreiber area. The course is designed for anyone interested in Furbearer Management and is a mandatory requirement for all first-time trappers. The course will begin on April 23, 1990, and will consist of evening classes from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m., 2 to 3 nights per week, for the following two weeks. A field day and examination will take place Saturday and Sunday, May 5 and 6. Course fee is $60.00 per student plus $12.00 for course materials.
