Page 6, News, Wednesday, November 9 , 1988 These are your Candidates Ed Borutski After ten years as a councilman, I'm still interested in serving and lis- tening to your needs by making sensi- ble and sound decisions. Your council has completed many projects, but I know many projects need to be finished and I feel many new ones started. With the Official Plan now in place, grants are available for new projects such as neighbourhood improvement and revitalization of our downtown core. An expansion of the existing sewage system is vital to the opening of subdivisions, so we can meet the needs of new and local citizens. Decisions must be made concern- ing the status of the cemetery, upgrad- ing of the Hydro system and the future of our Town Hall. SCHREIBER SEWAGE WORKS UPGRADING AND EXPANSION STUDY REPORT (ESR) PUBLIC REVIEW PERIOD I feel I can meet these and other concerns. Thank you for your support over the last ten years, and I look for- _ward to your continued support this election. Thank You, Douglas F. Caldwell I was brought up in Schreiber and moved to Terrace Bay in 1957 when my wife May and I were married. We have 5 children, 3 of whom sill live and work here. I have worked for Kimberly-Clark for 35 years, in services, pulp, town- site electrician, maintenance electri- cian, and presently maintenance co- ordinator. Eighteen of those years on the negotiating committee and eleven years as President of the L.B.E.W. in Terrace Bay. As a long time resident I would like to see some changes made in the . way our tax dollars are being admin- istered. ICare Please vote Caldwell. Tom Falzetta My name is Tom Falzetta and I have been a resident of Terrace Bay for 35 years. I am married with two children about to enter our school system. This is my fourth year sitting on the board of directors for the Terrace Bay Credit Union. Two children about to enter our school system puts education high on my list of. concerns. I am deeply trou- bled as to why some of the teachers within our board send their children outside our school district for their secondary education. Why must high school students wait till next semester to take certain credits? Why does our school board cry about a lack of money then build a new administrative office? Why after so many years must this office be in Marathon? What is our school board doing in the real estate business? Why was this years tax increase twice the rate of inflation? With your support on November 14th, I will find the answer to these and many other areas of concern. I will do my best to ensure that the stu- dents within our board get the best possible education for our tax dollar. -Jon Ferguson I taught in Terrace Bay High School from 1964 to 1978 when I retired. My wife and I raised six boys in Terrace Bay. Three went on to uni- versity, and one is completing his high school at present. I have always maintained an inter- est in education -and contact with stu- dents. I feel the aim of education is to stimulate and supply the need of knowledge, maintain good mental, moral and physical health. I am disturbed by the number of students leaving our schools and com- pleting their education in Thunder Bay and elsewhere. It is also apparent our students do not remain in school all day because they are unable to fill their timetables. This will lengthen their years in high school and possibly dilute their educa- tion. The cost of education is high, and we should demand a quality product. I'd like to do something about these and other concerns with your support.
