He stressed that the searches cannot be conducted on an arbi- trary basis, so continuous pro- grams are in place. He said large- scale organized searches are not a major priority in this area. They are conducted on an organized basis, however, at locations such as the junction of Highways 11 and 17, and at Pigeon River on Highway 61. With two conservation officers in Terrace Bay and one in Manitouwadge, Logan conceded that it might be difficult to provide a strong enforcement presence. He noted, however, that many people respond positively when approached. "The majority of anglers are happy to see a conser- vation officer," he said. Conservation Officers have authority under the Game and Fish Act to stop any vehicle or vessel to determine whether the occupants have been hunting or fishing and to obtain information about the num- ber and species of fish or game taken. Nominations for election as Governor at the Annual Meeting of the Corporation may be made only by: the Nominating Committee of the Board, or Members of the corporation provided that each nomination by Members is in writing and signed by at least two Members in good standing; is accompanied by a written declaration signed by the nominee that he/she will serve as a Governor in accordance with these by-laws if elected; and is submitted to and received by the Secretary at least thirty days before the date of the annual meeting. In conjunction with the Canada Day Celebrations, a Canada Day race has been sched- uled for July 1 beginning at 10:00: a.m. sharp! Start training now! Participants may run or walk the 5 km distance which will start at the ball park. Registration forms are available at the recreation office. For more information please call 824-2317 Swim Program Once again this year the swim program will he held at White Sand Beach. Registration forms will be distributed through the schools. We will offer two sessions, the first beginning on July 4, the second on July 25. Brownies & Guides Anyone wishing to pre-register their child for the fall session of Brownies or Guides should call Mrs. Roseann Pellegrino at 824- 2823. Brownies are ages 6 to 9 years and Guides are 9 to 12 years.
