Mixed Volleyball The recreation department has, as of Jan. 14, not received enough names to organize this event. We will keep trying to get a mixed volleyball league started. Anyone interested in playing recreational volleyball one night per week should contact the recreation office at 824-2317. Tae Kwon Do Due to the great response of this program, Joe has agreed to run a Club out of Schreiber. Lake Superior Highlites By T.E. Taylor, vice principal In games with Nip-Rock three weeks ago, our high school boys' basketball and girls' volleyball split the four games with our visi- tors. The Junior boys' basketball team remained undefeated with a 38-29 win. The Senior girls' volleyball team also remained undefeated with 15-9 and 15-13 wins against Nip-Rock. On the losing side, the Senior boys' basketball team lost to Nip- Rock 63-38, despite a super first half. Finally, the Junior girls had more bad luck with 14-16 and 10- 15 losses. Congratulations go out to our teams for their fine efforts. Our next tournament in on Saturday, February 20, at the Terrace Bay campus. We are currently taking names for Drivers' Education at Lake Superior High School. Anyone interested is asked to phone either campus for further information. Final examinations for courses for the first semester get under- way on Friday, January 29, at 9 a.m. The new semester starts on. Tuesday, February 9. Anyone, adult or otherwise, wishing to take courses with us is requested to phone the school at 824-2555 or 825-3271. Students and parents are reminded that all books signed out for the first term must be returned or paid for before second term books will be issued. If you have any questions regarding this proceduré, please phone the high school. Thanks go out to the commu- nity concert organization for allowing the high school year- book to raise funds by selling refreshments at their gatherings. Most recently, Joanne Lalonde, Doug Burton and Carrie Paukstys helped out during the Winter Games show on Jan. 11. Finally, congratulations go out to Coach Doug Roberts and play- er Kevin Roberts for the awards they received as the Olympic Torch passed through Terrace Bay. Wednesday evening to talk to Joe. National Coaching Certification Level 1- Theory Coaching Clinic The Schreiber. Recreation Department had to cancel this Level 1 Theory Coaching Clinic. The N.C.C.P. is the 'coaching of coaches' program. It is an edu- cational learning program open to all coaches and. is designed to make the reward of coaching that much better. The more the coaches get out of coaching the more their ath- letes will get out of their sport. Torch relay Petro-Canada is in the process of producing a book on the '88 Torch Relay. Our Torch Committee would like to include pictures of Schreiber's Torch Days Celebrations. We ask anyone who has good pictures of any of the events or McBride, Clarence (Casey) Funeral Services for Casey McBride, who died on January 19, 1988 were held on January 22 in Holy Angels Catholic Church in Schreiber. with Father Jan Rademaker and Rev. Teen Drop In Centre There is now a Teen Drop In Centre operating out of the games room and meeting room 3. If you are looking for a place to just meet your friends to sit and talk, come out to the recreation centre on Friday and Saturday nights from 7-11 p.m. First Aid Course The recreation department has been approached to organize a First Aid Course. Anyone inter- ested in taking this course should contact the office at 2317. Teen & Children's Aerobics- Debbie Tremblay, one of our aerobic 'instructors, is presently explaining the possibility of orga- nizing a teen and children's aero- bics program.
