Reveen recall of retention and recollection, shown in the photograph Reveen, the internationally-known entertainer, put on a '*memorable" show in Terrace Bay on July 3, part of which included a demonstration of his incredible powers Walkway study scheduled continued from page 1 ed down in the future. "*We should show some interest in this,' Reeve Ollie Chapman said. '""We just can't turn away from them...maybe we could re- install the posts there." Such posts would at least reduce the amount of vehicular traffic in that area, she added. "*Towns have been sued for less,'" Ramsay pointed out. "You could put the posts up and somebody might hit them at night because they don't know (the posts are there)." "*You can't take a piece- meal approach to. these walkways," Simons re- minded Council. "It's un- wise to jump right in and say 'we'll fix that one' without looking at the other ones first."' He also said there may be some people who rely on that specific easement for vehicular access. Council then called for a study to be conducted of all town easements and walk- ways. Reeve Chapman said a letter should be sent to the Samps informing them of Council's decision. Later at the same meet- ing, Council learned that an open public meeting to dis- cuss the town's senior cit- izens housing survey won't be held until September at the earliest. The meeting had orig- inally been scheduled for last February. It was de- e = Union ] cided that a summer sess- ion would not attract a very large crowd. Reeve Chapman said she feels the entire expenses and per diem township by- law should be reviewed in the near future. At the meeting, By-law 28-86 which amends By- law 3-61 was passed with a majority. The new by- law increases the expenses paid to Councillors and those in the service of the township on out-of-town trips to $35 per day and the mileage rate to 23 cents per kilometre. Reeve Chapman voted against the by-law, so when it was passed anyway that prompted her comment about a by-law review. "*There are other areas where it could be amend- ed,"' she explained. The matter will be discussed again at a future meeting. Councillor Chris Joubert asked about the possibility of a large pipe which might be placed under the High- way 17 bridge just south of Mill Road. He felt such a pipe might allow young- sters to avoid crossing the busy thoroughfare, since they would use the pipe in- stead. eo above. He also used volunteers from the audience to show what he calls Superconscious Psychology. '**This is not as easy as it sounds," he was told by Councillor Ramsay. '"We have talked about this before and I doubt we could do it...we would need MTC (Ministry of Transportation and Comm- unication) approval."' "'T like the concept, but 'there would be a problem of policing that area," Baker said. Reeve Chapman inform- ed Council that she was recently appointed to the new Northern Develop- ment Council for the Sup- erior-North area.. The app- / ointments were announced on June 17.
