The current Principal of Schreiber Public School, Wayne Tessier, will become Vice-Principal of Lake Superior High School this fall at either or both the Schreiber or Terrace Bay? according to the minutes of the February 6 meeting of the Lake Supperior Board of Education. Tessier, when contacted by the News this week, confirmed the appoint- ment, and also noted that the change will only be for a one-year term commen- cing September 1, 1986. He explained that he will actually be taking the place of the present Vice- Principal at Terrace Bay High School, Ed Taylor, who will be taking a year's leave of absence. "It's just an internal change," Tessier noted. "T'm not sure, though, which campus I'll be at, as that will be determined with the new schedule." The schedule won't be released until this spring. Under one system, Tessier may work at both high schools with different semesters. Under the Board resolu- tion, Tessier will be guaranteed his current position at Schreiber Public School at the conclusion of the reassignment. The minutes for the meetings of the Board of Education over the past month were released to the News last week. At the February 6 meeting, the Board authorized the purchase of land on Hemlo Drive in Marathon for a total amount of $243,103.65. A by-law was also passed at the meeting to allow bor- rowing from time to time from the Bank of Montreal by way of promissory notes not exceeding a total of three million dollars. The borrowing by-law was passed so that the Board could meet the pre- sent expenditures until the current revenue has been received. At its January 22 meeting, the Board approv- - ed the payment of $962.25 plus 10 per cent interest for costs of the vote recount in Schreiber as assessed and ordered by District Court Judge J. Wright. Later at the same meeting, the Board decid- ed to instruct its architect to proceed with drawings for renovations at Terrace Bay High School, based on the Board's Proposal No. 2 showing new change rooms located at the southeast corner of. the building.
