Police Department was kept busy during the Christmas and New Year's holidays, as they were called to in- vestigate six motor vehicle accidents during the week. According to a police report, four of the ac- cidents were under $700 in ding to a news release. Earlier this year, a Women and _ Disabilities Conference was held in Thunder Bay. Fifty out of the 70 persons who attend- ed the Conference had disabilities. Conference participants identified one of the greatest needs of the Conference follow-up was to get their families involv- ed in sharing information and experiences. The people who attend- ed the session in Terrace Bay seemed to agree. As a result, the "Family in a Changed World" Workshop' will be presented sometime in February in Terrace Bay, the release added. . The Workshop will look at the changing needs of the family. Participants will share ideas and develop better communication skills and coping strategies. "The workshop will be of interest to those whose lives have been affected by disability,' Buffington said. 'We are not going to tell people how to run their lives. Rather, it is an op- portunity for people to learn from each other and to share their experiences,"' The workshop is not just for women, she added. People may invite family and friends to a maximum of three guests all 16 years of age and over to attend the workshop with them. To maximize the benefits to participants, registration for the workshop is limited to 20 damages and no charges were laid in any of the incidents. The majority of the mishaps took place on Sim- coe Plaza, the report said, adding that perhaps drivers were preoccupied with the festive season and were paying less attention to Brochure project . continued from page 1 the Township of London which requested the On- tario government to extend Workers' Compensation benefits to volunteer firefighters who are victims of heart problems due to the stress of fire calls.
