Amber, who is nine years old, at- tends Mr. Jowitt's Grade 5 class at Terrace Bay Public School. Her parents moved to Terrace Bay from Schreiber last year, and her father now works at the Kimberly- Clark mill. She was selected as Student of the Week due to her academic achievements. Priorities set by Council she said. Chapman intends to make herself available to the townspeople who have concerns they are reluctant to discuss at council meetings and is looking forward to working close- ly with her council to meet the challenges that face the community. "We have a god group of people on council. It should be very interesting because this is the first time a woman has held the posi- tion, but I think that much can be accomplished if we work together for the good of all the people in Terrace Bay."' she said. Newly elected Schreiber reeve, Mike Cosgrove, was sworn in last night at the council's first official meeting. Cosgrove served as a councillor for the town these last three years and recalls the old saying, ""anyone can be reeve, but it takes a darn good man to be a councillor. I guess I'm going to find out if that's true, A priority for the Schreiber council will be the completion of the fire hall and ° continuing dialogue with Falconbridge Copper. "Of course we're not pleased. but we have had several meetings with the company and they have been very fair with us. If they do plan to go ahead with production in the future, we'll have nine years of prosperity ahead of us and so we have some time to make long range plans," he said. Cosgrove will work ac- tively in the new year to encourage the business community to establish a Chamber of Commerce. ""We"ve had a few meetings, but many business people don't see' how a chamber would ac- tually benefit: them. I believe that a chamber has a lot of political clout. The chambers in the northwest are very active and I think we can get a lot of good contacts through other organizations if we had our own chamber," he 'said. We would like to express our apprecia- tion to all who were so kind during the loss of our father, grandfather and great grand-father Hubert Weaver. Sincere thanks to Rev. Lowry, Pall- bearers, Church Choir, Organist and Soloist, also to the U.C.W. for the lunch served after the funeral. To those who visited, called, sent flowers, baking and food or helped in any other way thank you all. A special thank you to our family for their help and time and to Dode and Herb for their turkey supper waiting for us. We are forever grateful. Christmas Hours: Mon. - Fri. 9-9 .
