Man. ' The Central Regional Office of St. Jude Child- ren's Research Hospi- tal announced today that Mrs. Michele Godin has. agreed to chair the St. Jude Children's Re- search Hospital Bike-a- Thon in Schreiber. St. Jude Children's Research was founded by entertainer Danny Thomas. The institution opened its doors to the public in 1962 to combat catastrophic diseases which afflict our child- ren. St. Jude Hospital is non-sectarian, non- discriminatory, and pro- vides medical care to over 4,200 patients. At St. Jude, scien- tists and physicians are working side by side seeking not only a better means of treatment, but also the causes, cures and prevention of these terrible killers. All findings and in- formation gained at the hospital are shared free- _ly with doctors and hos- pitals all over the world. Thanks to St. Jude's, children who have leuk- emia, Hodgkin's dis- ease, sickle cell anemia, and other child killing diseases now have a better chance to live. The Bike-a-Thon pro- gram is dedicated to "'Terry". Terry was diagnosed with leukem- ia in March of 1978, and began treatment at St. Jude Children's Re- search Hospital Today, she is well and off all medication. Terry is a living example of the progress and success of the research, patient care, and educational programs of this inter- nationally recognized hospital. The funds raised in the Bike-a-Thons this fall will help assure the continuation of the life giving work at the hos- pital. The concern which Mrs. Godin has for the work being done at St. Jude is greatly appre- ciated. The children hope that the citizens of Schreiber and Terrace Bay will wholeheartedly support the upcoming Bike-a-Thon.
