The Fire Committee reported that Gene Ross is the new Deputy Chief and Art Huard has been appointed Senior Cap- tain. The Fire Alarm systems at the public school, high school and the arena complex have been hooked into the fire hall. It was suggested that all municipal build- ings be hooked into the system. The Recreation Com- mittee reported that it held its first meeting on January 10. Irene Borutski was elected the new Chairman and Susan Campbell was elected Vice Chairman. The Engineer re- ported that the sewer line at the Post Office is blocked again. It was suggested that the line may have been broken when the new water line was installed. Omega Contractors have been informed. On a Motion by Mike Cosgrove, seconded by Burton Phillips, water accounts of $70,884.22 and General Accounts of $134,269.03 were paid. Complaints were re- ceived that derelict ve- hicles are being stored beside the Liquor Store on Manitoba St. and at a residence on Newman St. in violation of the By-Law. The By-Law Of- ficer was directed to investigate. Bell Canada will be contacted and request- ed to correct the place- ment of wires on Hill St. The wires are inter- fering with the move- ment of town equip- ment. An inquiry was re- ceived about the pur- chase of one and a half or two lots on Quebec St. at the old arena site.
