SEPTEMBER 28, 1977 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 7 The Lake Superior Board of Education Meeting No. 8/77 was held on Monday, September 19th, 1977, at Marathon High School, library at 19 00 The minutes of the French 'Language Advisory Committee meeting held on June 14, 1977, were acknowledged as received. The following list of disbursements were approved: For the month of June, 1977: $562,250.16; For the month of July, 1977: $304,797.32; For the month of Aug..,+ 1977: $224,331.13. The Board accepted the following resigna- tions with regret: - Dr. R. Brandon, as Public School Trustee for Marathon, effective August 31, 1977; ~ Mr. R.G. Jones, as Accountant, effective October 15, 1977. The Board approved the following appoint- ments: - Lake Superior High School - Mrs. Mary Migdaugh as a teacher of Art (3/4 Time) Years 1- - Manitouwadge High School - Mrs. Mariette Seapinello as a teacher of French Year 2 and Francais Years 1-5; - Mr. Jim Tristram as the Marathon member of The Early School Leaving Committee, effective immediately; - 'Mrs. Janet Turner as Attendance Counsellor for Manitou- wadge Schools, effective September 1, 1977. The Board approved the fuel oil agreement | with Imperial Oil Limited for the period 1977 09 01 to 1978 08 31, for Manitouwadge, Mara- thon, Terrace Bay. and Schreiber. The contract for the Marathon High School Heating Plant Conversion was awarded to Will- hac Inc. of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Because the Board is concerned that persons "be adequately' insured while using their own vehicles to transport others on Board business or related activities, it was resolved that such persons shall carry a minimum of $500,000 Public Liability and Property Damage Insurance on his/her vehicle. . The Board approved an amendment to the Tra- vel Expense allowance Regulation, whereby the mileage allowance will be 23¢ per mile instead of 20¢ per mile, effective October 11977. This change represents the first travel exe pense allowance increase since October 25, | 1975. A modified Physical Education program was approved as a pilot project at the Manitou- wadge Public School for the school year 1977- 78 as presented by Frank Brathwaite, Principal It was agreed that the Ministry of Educa- tion additional special grant to provide fi equipment for the teaching of French as a second language, utilized by Manitouwadge Pub- lic School.
