SEPTEMBER 28, 1977 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 5 TERRACE BAY POLICE DEPARTMENT POLICE REPORT - 20 to 25 SEPTEMBER: During the period 20 to 25 September, mem- bers of the Terrace Bay Police Force were cal- led upon to investigate fifteen occurrences. On September 21st, a person was checked driving an overdue rental car from London, Ontario. The vehicle was seized by police and the driver charged with driving under suspen- sion and possessing a drivers licence while prohibited from doing so. This subject was wanted by other police dgencies in Southern Ontario and they have been notified of the arrest. i The discharging of firearms in the imme- diate vicinity of the Townsite is still a Problem. On September 22nd, three municipal employees were forced to take cover in the vicinity of the cemetery when rapid small arms fire began hitting trees and branches in the immediate vicinity. Police attended one disturbance call to a local drinking establishment, one male person was arrested on an outstanding warrant, two complaints of wilful damage were investigated. and three charges were laid under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. Nineteen charges will be heard in Criminal Court in Terrace Bay on September 29th. NORTH OF SUPERIOR DISTRICT R.C.S.S. BOARD REGULAR MEETING: The North of Superior District R.C.S.S. Board held its regular meeting on Saturday, September 17, 1977, in St. Edward School, ~ Nipigon. Approval was given to the minutes of * the regular meeting held June 18, 1977, and to the payment of cheques for the months of July and August, 1977, with one bill to be clari=- fied. i The Aims and Objectives Steering Committee is to meet next week, with further meetings of " the Committee to be held the latter part of wo) September and in the month of October. Mr. Reg G. Jones has been appointed Busin- ess Administrator and Treasurer, at salary as recommended by the Committee of the Whole Board, effective October 17, 1977, and Mrs. Betty-Ann Blier has been appointed General Office Secretary, effective September 6, 1977. Guidelines on "Family Life Education" pre- pared by Ontario Bishops will be mused in the schools. The Director was directed to contact 0.S.S. T.A. for its reaction to the Proposed new or- ganizational structure for sahool 'trustees be- fore the Board responds to the request for sup port. : : It was recommended and approved that the Management and Personnel & Finance Committees meet as a Committee of the Whole Board for to- day's meeting and future meetings. 3 A motion to provide busing for children from Grades K-7 living at the Aguasabon Trail- er Court was defeated. It was suggested that a policy be establish' --ed on school instruction regarding smoking. It was noted with thanks, that the C.W.L. of Nipigon had prepared the lunch and that Mr. Lacaria, Principal, St. Edward School, had taken care of the necessary arrangements for the meeting. The next Regular Board Meeting 'will be held on Saturday, October 15, 1977, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Hilary School, Red Rock.
