CATHOLIC WOMEN'S LEAGUE NEWS The general meeting was held on Sunday, April llth at St. Martin's. The Rosary was said for the success of the forthcoming Dio- cesan Convention on May 4, 5, 6. Mrs. J. Kennedy, chaired the meeting and welcomed all those present. Mrs. E. Ramsay, secretary, read the minutes of the last gener -al meeting and all correspondence. The treasurer, Mrs. R. Gerlach, gave the financial report. The conveners of standing committees gave their reports. Mrs. L. Belliveau, Organization convener, mentioned the Leadership Training course be- ing offered by the Diocesan council at the Avila Centre in Thunder Bay this coming Octo- ber. Mrs. Mary Mathew the National President of the C.W.L. will be conducting this course. All League members wanting to take part in this course are to get in contact with Mrs. Edna Ramsay. Mrs. F. Luke, Cultural Life Convener, men- tioned that the First Communion gifts and Grade Eight Graduation pins were ordered. Mrs. Mary Hale, Christian Family Life Con- vener in her report stressed the need for lea- ders for our Guides and Brownies. If you would like to become a leader in the Guides or Brownies, get in touch with Mrs. B. Lalonde. 01d Business: Mrs. Mary Clare Kennedy, thanked all those ladies who helped out at the World Day of Prayer and the Winter Carnival. During the festivities of the Winter Carnival, it was announced that the float entered by the C.W.L. had received 3rd prize. To all those who decorated our float "Thanks", your cooper -ation in making this possible is sincerely appreciated. New Business: Mrs. Mary Clare Kennedy re- minded all the ladies present about the Dio- cesan Convention to be held at Red Rock, May 4, 5, 6. All members are cordially invited to attend, get in contact with Mrs. Kennedy .* for transportation. On April 26th Mass will be said to honour Our Lady of Good Counsel. There being no further business the Gener- al Meeting adjourned. Following the general meeting the Annual Meeting took place. The president, Mrs. Mary Clare Kennedy, asked Mrs. Edna Ramsay to read the minutes of the last Annual Meeting. Mrs. Kennedy gave her presidents report. In her remarks she thanked her executive for their cooperation and assistance during her term of office. To the members she extended her grateful thanks for making the past year a successful one.
