Ice will be available for play on Nov- ember Ist.; plans are underway to determine if an "Opening Bonspiel" can be scheduled that same weekend. Hopefully, we'll be in a pos- ition to make an announcement on this in mid- October. Elsewhere in the issue of the News, details on the Men's Semi-Annual meeting, which will be held on October I5th, has been advertised. This is your opportunity to get involved, speak your mind and find out more .about this years programme. The onus is on You to attend. As 1s the case every year, a number of cur- lers volunteer their time to serve on the ex- ecutive. It is really the executive that co- ordinates the programme and puts in the hard work which is necessary to try and operate the Club smoothly. They certainly deserve mentioning. With the co-operation of the Terrace Bay News, "Curling Comments" will be keeping curl- ers informed of the activities in the Men's Club by appearing on a regular basis when . curling starts. In the meantime, why not plan to take up the very popular winter sport of curling and attend the Semi-Annual meeting on October I5th. TERRACE BAY COUNCIL QUOTES The regular meeting of the Council of The Township of Terrace Bay was held Wednesday, September 24th, in the Council Chambers. Councillors Brassard and Kennedy were pre- sent with Councillor Helmink acting as Reeve. The minutes of the previous regular meet- ing were adopted. Correspondence included: From O.M.B. Not- ice of approval of Zoning By-law No. 276; From L.C.B.O. approval of Friday night store hours; From and to McCausland Hospit- al re draining; Notice of Meeting - Police Governing Authorities - Toronto, October I6th and I7th; Notice of Seminar - Water and Waste, Thunder Bay, October Iéth and I7th. From Solicitor-General re Fire Prevention Week October 5th to IIth; The August Police Report was read. Under new business the resolution hiring Constable Hopkins was rescinded and a new resolution was passed hiring Constable Murr- ay for the Police Department. : Resolutions passed were a) to make appli- cation to C.M.H.C. re Land Assembly; b) to go ahead with the heating system and plumbing for the new public works garage; c¢) to acce- pt the I974 curbing contract; d) to allow Councillor Cy Brassard and Clerk W. Hanley to meet with the MTC to obtain information re paving and a plough. The purchase of a new police cruiser was discussed since problems have been had in obtaining parts for the present one.
