The inaugural meeting of the Thunder Bay District Board of Management was held on May 2Ist, T975 at 12:30 p.m. The meeting began with a dinner and a tour of Pinewood Court. The Board meeting began with the Secretary Treasurer, Verna Peltonen, reading off the names of the five municipal appointees and the two appointed by the Lieu- tenant-Governor. The election of officers for the year followed with Fred Harness being elected as Chairman, and Alex Daneff as Vice- Chairman. Both men had served on the Board previously. : Mr. Harness welcomed the new Board members and reviewed some of the work of the past Boards, and outlined. some of the objectives of the Board in working with Senior Citizens in the District. The accounts of Pinewood Court and Birch- wood Terrace for the months of February, March and April, I975 were passed for payment and Progress Billings to Barnett-McQueen, Contract Managers at Birchwood Terrace. The conversion project at Birchwood Terrace Jas been completed except for a few deficiencies that have to be cleaned up. Four residents were approved for admission, all to Pinewood Court. A number of capital items were approved including a fifty pound gas dryer and roof repairs at Birchwood Terr-- ace, totalling $3,773.00. Ranta and Tett Architects were authorized to plan an overall kitchen layout at Birchwood Terrace and they were also given approval to tender the addit- ion to Pinewood Court's dining roon.
