MARTIN'S HOSTS WORLD DAY OF PRAYER World Day of Prayer in Terrace Bay was ob- served in St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church, with members of the Community Church as their guests. President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Community Church, Mrs. Cora Ropchan, with Pres- ident of the Catholic Women's League, Mrs. Edna Ramsay, welcomed the ladies at the door. Mrs. Pat Buck was at the organ, and Mrs. Fern McDonald was the soloist. Members of both churches took part in the readings, with Mrs. Helen Brooks, of the Comm- unity Church, as guest speaker. Others taking part were Mrs. Ramsay, Mrs. Vera Kennedy, Mrs. Anna McKie, Mrs. June Schritt, Mrs. Mary Dashkewytch, Mrs. Rose Garriock, Mrs. Mary Chaldwell, Mrs. Shirley Caron, Mrs. Marge. Lundberg, Mrs. Lillian Sechesky, Mrs. Hilda Hiebert, Mrs. Rita McBride. Mrs. Brook's message carried the theme, "Make us Builders of Peace". She chose as her passage from the Scriptures, John 15:27 - "peace I leave with you; my own peace I give to you". She stated that if each woman who attended World Day of Prayer service could find peace within herself, then what an influence they could be toward world peace. Lunch was served by Mrs. Peggy Regis and her committee. Baby sitting service was also provided by Mrs. Regis. RETARDED ASSOC. MEETING HELD IN T.B. The annual meeting of the Schreiber-Terrace Bay Association for the Mentally Retarded was held in the hall of St. Martin's Church on Tuesday evening. Vice-president Mrs. Georgette Cebrario wel- comed the members and everyone joined in re- peating the Prayer for the Mentally Retarded. Mrs. Rita Allen gave the annual treasurer's report. Mrs. Cebrario read the annual report. Mrs. Shirley Brown was called upon to pre- sent the new slate of officers for I974. Mrs. Cebrario acted as recording secretary. The following election of officers took place: President - Mr. Art LeBlanc; Vice-president - Mrs. Georgette Cebrario; Treasurer - Mrs. Peggy Helmink; Recording Secretary - Sister Carol McKerrel; Corresponding Secretary - Mrs. Rita Allen. : Mr. W. Saya, of Thunder Bay was the guest speaker. His topic was the changeover from the Ministry of Health to the Ministry of Community and Social Services, where the Mentally Retard- ed are concerned. Mr. Saya explained the recommended resolu- tion to the O.M.R. annual meeting in May, from the Board of Directors, re Cost-sharing under the Canada assistance plan. * After a question and answer period, lunch was served by the executive. WORLD DAY OF PRAYER IN SCHREIBER The World Day of Prayer service was held in St. John's Anglican Church, with Mrs. Russ- ell Macadam, president of the United Church Women, Mrs. Reg Bailey, president of the Anglican Church Women, and Mrs. Sanford Chicoine, president of the Catholic Women's League, as leaders. Mrs. Justin Martin was the organist and Mrs. Jim Crook sang "The Holy City" during the service. Others. taking part inciuded Mesdames Borden Ross, John Spillane, Norman Glad, W.T. Wall- ace, Annie Niemi, A.W. Slater, Wesley Clemens Harry Prescott, D'Arcy McGuire, F.V. Harness, and Arthur Moorey.
