Senior Regent Sadie Benko presided at the meeting, Recorder Stella Sadowick read the minutes of the previous meeting and gave the financial report. On behalf of the 20 members present, Anne Todesco pre- sented a corsage to Stella Sadowick along with gree- tings and best wishes on her 25th wedding anniversary, Collegian Anne Didura gave a speech, her topic being Mooseheart which was enjoyed by all members present. Members will cater to a wedding to be held on Nov. 4th with Anne Stachiw as convenor and Alma Mogquin as co-convenor. Clothing for two adopted children was distributed by Mooseheart chairman Anne Todesco. A very successful and colorful penny auction was held with all articles being wrapped in Christmas paper. Christmas decorations and driftwood novelties were used for the table setting to bring out the Christ mas in October theme. Members enjoyed the delicious fruit cake, fancy sandwiches, tarts and refreshments served by Mooseheart committee of Anne Todesco, Alma Moquin, Anne Stachiw and Camille Todesco. Next Meeting to be held on October 18th, mem- bers all welcome to attend. ANNUAL PENNY AUCTION The regular monthly meeting of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Women's League was held in the Church Hall on Sunday, October 15th. A Decade of the Rosary was recited in the Church prior to the meeting. Mrs. J. Falzetta, in the absence of Mrs. G. Ram- say, opened the meeting with a few words of welcome followed by the League Prayers. Mrs. R. Robittaile read a passage from the Jerusalem Bible and Mrs. P. Malashewski read the minutes of the last meeting and new correspondence. Mrs. A. Regis, in the absence of Mrs. F. Helmink, gave the treasurer's report and the various Committee Chairmen gave their reports. Mrs. M. Chepelsky, Social Economic and Civic Life reported that the guest speaker would be present and thanked Mrs. J. Kennedy and her committee for providing the lunch. Mrs. J. Falzetta, Social Action, urged everyone to vote on October 30th. Mrs. A. Regis, Church Life, read an inspiring poem entitled, "Be Kind", and asked for volunteers to help pack clothing for the missions on Oct. 25th. Mrs. R. Gerlach, Communications and Public, Relations, reported that tickets are still available for the Penny Auction to be held on Sunday, Oct. 22nd. and also tickets available for the Fuel Oil draw. These tickets will also be available at the Penny Auction if anyone wishes to purchase more. Mrs. Falzetta thanked the ladies who sold tickets on the recent Martha Logan Cooking School and stated that a letter of appreciation would be sent to Costa's Foodmarket for that donation to the Church. Anyone wishing car transportation to the Children's Aid Public Meeting in Schreiber on October 25th, is asked to contact Mrs. G. Ramsay. The meeting was adjourned by Mrs. M. Churney ~ after which "Holy God We Praise Thy Name" and "O Canada" were sung. Mrs. G. Dashkewytch then introduced the guest speaker, Miss Barbara Lalonde, Nutritionist, who presented a most interesting question and answer period on packaging, labelling, vitamins and food in general. Miss Lalonde was presented with a gift on behalf of the League by Mrs. M. Chepelsky. A social hour followed.
