Volleyball East-West Finals were held on Friday, November 5, 1971 in the Terrace Bay Campus Gymnasium. The teams in=- volved in the competitions were from Geraldton, Marathon, Manitouwadge and Schreiber-Terrace Bay High Schools. The results of the Senior games were as follows: = The Senior Girls' team from Geraldton defeated Manitouwadge three games to one in the best of five finals. The Senior Boys' team from Schreiber- Terrace Bay lost out fo Marathon, three games to two, in the best of five finals. This match proved to be well-played and close throughout, with the scores being as follows: - Marathon 16-14, 15-10 and 15-13; Schreiber- Terrace Bay 16-14 and 15-4. Outstanding efforts on the part of the Senior Boys' Volleyball team from Schreiber-Terrace Bay High School were put forth by Ralph Coe, Jim Corrigan, Bob Fummerton, Kim Gelldri, Mike Miller and Ken Turner. GOOD SHOWING IN ALL-ONTARIO FINALS The Boys' Cross-Country team represented NWOSSA at the All-Ontario finals in Toronto on Saturday, November 5, 1971. In the Junior Division Lonnie Connelly, Corned Prinselaar, and Bill Smilsky all finished in the top half of the 3 1/2 mile event. There were approximately 900 runners from across Ontario taking part in the three races. Following the Meet, the Cross-Country team explored the Science Centre in Toronto before returning home, and found this experience to be highly interesting and profitable .
