Special awards were given to the highest scorer and the second highest. The highest scorer was Debbie Cvitkovich with her Shetland Sheepdog, Amie, with a score of 186. Second highest went to Lynn Phillips of Schreiber with her Dachshund, So-Fe with a score of 184. All the dogs performed and behaved well and Miss Dobush appreciates the co-operation of her students who helped to make the obedience class and gruaduation a success. VINCENT CALDER Terrace Bay was saddened by the tragic accident on the highway which took the life of Vincent Bryan Calder, on June 19th. Vincent is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Calder. He was 14 and a Grade 8 student at St. Martin's School . : Vincent was born in Fort Frances, and moved to Terrace Bay with his parents, when he was three months old, so had spent most of his life here. He was very active in all sports, particularly hockey and golf. He is survived by his mother and father, and four sisters, Leanne, Carla, Rosalind and Pamela. The funeral will take place Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. in St. Martin of Tours Church. C.W.L. COMMITTEES GIVE REPORTS The monthly meeting of the Catholic Women's League was held Sunday evening June 13th in St. Martin of Tours Parish Hall. The meeting opened with the League Prayer and Mrs. Dashkewytch chair- ed the meeting. "A decade of the Rosary was recited for the intentions of the Senior Citizens. A passage from the Jerusalem Bible was read by Mrs. A. Drex- ler. Mrs. P. Malashewski, secretary, read the minutes of the last meeting and correspondence. A letter was read regarding Senior Citizen Week with further details being published in the paper. Mrs. P. Regis gave the treasurer's report. The following standing committees gave their reporfs: = Church Life, Mrs. |. Kettle - read a poem Youtheatre Program = cont'd from page 2 ..... especially between the ages of 13 and 25 can apply for the summer programme. Application forms are available at all the High Schools in the area or by writing to Mr. J. Mac- Kay at 1315 Victoria Ave., Apt. 101, Thunder Bay, Ontario or by calling 622-6983. Preliminary auditions were held Saturday, June 19, at Lakehead University. But this is by no means a deadline, and applications will be welcome up until the first week of July. The cost fo participants is minimal - a $20 regis- tration fee, $10 of which will be refunded at the end of the course. Billets for out-of-town students will be provided at no cost to the young people involved. LADIES GOLF NEWS June 14th Ladies Twilight was another success with winners as follows: = Low Gross - J. Gunter; Low Net = M. Phillips; Low Hole - A. Adamo; High Hole J. Megraw. Winners of Best Ball played Saturday, June 19th - Low Gross=P. Wellings and L. West; Low Net-I. Ferrier and J. Gunter. Congratulations to the winner of Sundays, Board of Directors - Julie Rattray with a low net score of 68. Coming up Sai- urday June 26, at 11 a.m. is another Pen Round. Ramsay stated that memberships are available for those who wish to join the League by June 26. Communica- tions and Public Relations: Mrs. D. Desrosiers = A briefing on the news Consumers Packaging and Label - ling Act was given by Mrs. J. Falzetta Social Action Convener. Mrs. W. Pytyck, Cultural Life Convener reported that the First Communion Class was presented with a Prayer Book from the League and her committee will be convening the grade eight banquet, June 2%th. Mrs. R. Roberts, Christian and Family Life Convener stated that replies were received from League members from their M.P., concerning their views on the Liberal- ization of the Abortion Law. Canada Packers Labels are still in need and can be given to Mrs. M. Churney. Madame President announced some forthcoming projects to be held in September - Bridge and Whist Party, October - Penny Auction, February/72 - Bake Sale. entitled 'In Appreciation'. Organization: = Mrs. E. The meeting closed with the singing of "O Canada" and "Holy God We Praise Thy Name". The high- light of the evening was the showing of a film "Where ever there are Children" by Mr. L.A. Weaver of the Childrens Aid Society, Thunder Bay. A question and answer period followed and the response of the ladies was well appreciated.
