JUNE 23, 1971 TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 11 Letter to Terrace Bay News - from William Adamo | am sure that many taxpayers like myself would be interested to know who is paying for the side- walk repairs now being done in front of the liquor store. | think that there are many repairs that are necess- ary in our business district; some of which cry out to the high heavens for attention. Some of this could] be the town's responsibility, but in the main, the property owner or tenant is guilty of inexcusable negligence in proper maintenance of his premises. Untidy front and rear of buildings are unbecoming to Terrace Bay which is known for its beauty and cleanliness. The disgraceful appearance in some areas and the imperviousness to such conditions should be corrected by use of stern methods if necessary. The town's tolerance of such conditions, makes it equally guilty for this sad appearance. | realize that in the past efforts were made to compel businesses to clean up their premises. Un- fortunately little or no heed was given to such appeals. During the summer with the increased traffic, un- tidiness reigns everywhere. This is the time when the town should put its foot down and enforce cleanliness It is about time our community receives the same consideration which is given to the lucrative tourist trade. | cannot help but feel that our business is taken for granted. Since its beginning the plaza area has been the show case to our beautiful town, but in the last few years it has become terribly run down. Let us immediately take the necessary steps for correction.
