STUDENTS CHALLENGE STAFF One of the most entertaining sport events of the season was the broomball game between the staff and students of grade eight, Schreiber Public School. The students issued the challenge, most derisively worded and staff replies in high humour. To the delight of the students the staff appeared clad in carnival costume, varying from red night- gowns to an easter bunny adding to the hilarity of the event. The staff could "whomp" better with the brooms but their feet were not equal to the sure- footed kids as they swarmed about. One mistake, apparently, was made by the chall- engers in choosing Walter Klassen of the high school staff, believing they had secured an impartial referee | Instead of which the official proved to be most biased, only, when cowed by the rabid fans, issuing a high sticking penalty to Jon Lumley (staff) and awarding a penalty shot to the kids. After deciding against a fourth goal for the students and declaring the game a 3-3 tie Mr. Klassen left the arena fully guarded by the staff. The only aspect of the event left in doubt was who enjoyed the game the most = the school, the staff, or the parent supporters of grade eight. TOWN TOPICS Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Paradis, two avid hockey fans, enjoyed a novel gift from their family recently when they were presented with tickets to two N.H.L. games in Minneapolis. They saw the North Stars vs the Candians and the North Stars vs the Buffalo Sabres. Photo Below ~ by I. MecCuaig.
