PAGE 12 TERRAC E BAY NEWS FEBRUARY 4, 197} LETTER TO THE EDITOR In reference to By-law 242, does Council have the right to keep the public ignorant of decisions made in chambers? It would appear that the three readings and the passing of this by-law at one meet- ing, that Council is conducting a closed door policy, which our News Media complained about a few years ago. Do the public not have a voice in these matters? In passing this by-law you are discriminating again- st a few people who are unfortunate in living on the inner crescents of the Town, and have no access to their homes atter midnight withour crossing a street, anyone living on the outer crescents have access through bush trails or via the highway. Many shift workers, a large percentage of our population and even a senior citizen are now en- joying the benefits of this sport, by taking a run through the bush or enjoying a hearty cookout, in the early evening or after mfdnight are now being restricted by having to be home by the witching hour of midnight. | am sure this law will be detrimental to the physical and mental health of some of these people. Satefy is a concern to everyone, but according to the Ontario Safery Council, their have been no fatalities in the Thunder Bay area and district. Our local Ski Hill has had more injuries than those re- ceived on snowmobiles. To the set few that are abusing this sport on our Town streets, | am sure that they are not too numerous tor our local police to handle. As for the noise of these machines during the late hours, motorcycles, plows and snow blowers annoy me fo no end, yer there are no restrictions put on any of these macnines. In closing | would like Council to think over an old cliche' ot Sir Winston Churcnill's, turned around = "Never has so mucn, Been denied to so many, By so few." An Irate Citizen.
