Ross MacDonald, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, - did on behalf of Her Majesty's Government of the Province of Ontario, present a "Tipstaff" to Commissioner E.H. Silk, as his official symbol of authority. The ceremony took place in the _ Lieutenant Governor's Suite be- fore an assembly of 225 guests. Prime Minister John P. Robarts, Chief Justice G.A. Gate, Justice Minister A.A. Wishart, distinguish- ed guests, Commissioned Officers and wives of the Ontario Provincial Police. Such action has caused both the Town- ship and the Company embarrassment on at least two occassions recently. Let us then not get too perturbed about these isolated petty differences and keep them in their proper perspective. In closing may | suggest that there is yet another field in which we might be able to increase our local awareness and that is a better coverage of local events in your paper. | think we can. take a lesson from your Schreiber and Rossport correspondents in the fine coverage they produce both in news and pictures each week.
