PAGE 16 SCHREIBER WREATHS LAID AT CENOTAPH CEREMONY The Legionnaires in their march to the cenotaph on Remembrance Day were accompanied by the Sea Cadets and Wrenettes of Terrace Bay with their bugle . band. The Legionnaires were led by Marshall, Bill Parad- is, and Color Bearers, Leonard Miller, Lloyd Small, and Frank MacDonald. Fred Gould was bugler and Hobden Spikula raised and lowered the flag. The Cadets and Wrenettes were led by Arnold McKechnie and Mrs. Alice Chepelski . Larry Bourke was M.C. Twenty eight wreaths were placed by the bisa firms and various associations in town, with personal ones; for Lesley Gerow, placed by his father; for Jim Richardson, placed by Mrs. Jack Richardson; for G.A. Newton, placed by Mrs. Robert Winters. Dean J.M. Cano, of Holy Angel's Roman Catholic Church, gave the adress, saying in part that the gathering was to bless and revere the memory of the dead of two world wars and of the various peace- keeping tasks assigned to the Canadian Armed Forces in which lives have been sacrificed. Our hope is that war and its accompanying horrors will be replaced by diplomacy, and some day by a brotherhood of men, with no boundaries of countries, nor other differences. The instinct for peace, the present ever-growing protests against war, and the education in peace, must surely influence all people to abhor, force, to flee any form of war-like dictatorship, and to stop the taking of their rights of freedom from any man. Only by such conduct is there any meaning to such services as we are holding today. Only by a contin- uous struggle to give peace and freedom to alll men can we make their supreme sacrifice have any meaning or worth.
