ALTAR SOCIETY MEETS St. Berchman's Altar Society memb ers resumed their meeting a fter the summer recess, when they met at Mrs. Todesco's home Thursday evening. President Mrs. Herb Legault presented a tentative work plan for building a new altar which resulted in considerable discussion. Arrangements were final ized for the annual fall bingo. Letters of apprec- iation for get well cards and the financial statement were read. The president reported that shrubs plant- ed at the church made excellent progress this year and that the grotto was ready for dedication and blessing. Following adjournment an International contest was run off with Camilla and Agnes Legault winning the prizes. The hostess served refreshments from a table arranged with a centerpiece of garden flowers in a family heirloom copper teapot over 100 years old and Maderia table cover 60 years old. The October meeting will take place at Mrs. Les- pen ski's. The School hall directors held a party Friday evening . All children and parents of the village took part in the event playing games, dancing and contests . School opened Tuesday with an enrolment of 32 pupils and Mrs. M. Matchett of Peterboro, teacher.
