The initiation for this year had a new twist. All the initiates were told to wear, instead of the regular costume worn by former initiates, they had to be dressed to the tee. All boys came in white shirts, ties and suits and the girls came in their best dresses. The new students were again paired off $imCO PLAZA - Box 368 with a senior student to carry books a seen home and to school, and do any other Open FRIDAY EVENINGS small chore assigned to them. If these ao ey assignments were not carried out to the full satisfaction of the master, the initiate would be receive demerit points. The initiation was held for three days and on Thursday all remarks and points for the initiate were collected by Student's Council. As usual, the Student's Council gives a ring to the best boy initiate and one to the best girl initiate The two students receiving the rings this year are Mary Jane Hopper and Graham Coe. Congratula- tions to you both for being the best slaves. Now on Monday there is also something new be- ing introduced into initiation. Monday was Fresh- man's Day at T.B.H.S. It was going to be the exact opposite of the regular initiation since the senior students are now the slaves of the initiates for one complete day. Here's hoping all the senior students were as good sports as were the initiates. Page 4 ROOM AND BOARD - for gentleman, available immediately. Phone 3523. Each member of the grade nine class could feel the nervousness around him. The names were read off slowly and one by one the students gave a sigh of either relief or worry. With this all over all felt relieved un- til they again had a chance to think about it. First thing Monday morning all were up bright and early and off to the mas- ter's home. Although wondering what they had to do each enjoyed knowing the fact that he or she had made it into high-school activities. Each SHOPPER'S a i REPEAT OFFER! ! Listening to what others had to say about what they had to do became an exciting and entertaining moment in the three-day period. However, even though enjoying their initiation, all grade niners were glad to see it end witha little twist of the usual in having the masters become the slaves and the slaves become the mas- ters. This was an interesting venture and the slaves gave their masters a little taste of their own medicine and maybe then some. All in all, | feel that | enjoyed my initiation as it was a new and interest- ing experience in the game of life. TREES Out in the forest Where trees are tall -And free to live There is one man Who comes along, And the big trees fall. And whey they leave There is no more, The big trees, Free and tall But only stubs Of the monuments. But fear not For there is one Hand That when well shaken Is very pleased. It will take long By Nature's course And a prayer That the big trees Free and tall Will stand again Towering and proud. - Michael Lemay - Grade 12.
