FASHION SHOW MODELS - Photo by Inez McCuaig KINETTES PRESENT FASHION SHOW The Kinettes held their annual fashion show in the High School auditorium with 350 attending. Mrs. Gladys Irving of Fort William was commentator and Mrs.Lorraine Weaver, club president, welcomed the audience. The draw prize was won by Mrs .Dominic Com- misso with Bill Hiller drawing the lucky ticket. The models were Shelby Kirkpatrick, Alda Holland, Bruce Hiller, Roger Tremblay, June Small, Nancie Spillane, Betty Reid, Rosa Speziale, Bea McBride, Lorraine Bedard, Mesdames Lloyd Schaan, John Mclsaac, Gordon McParland, Edward Gerow, Jack Ridsdale, Cosimo Costa and Leonard Huard, with Jody Davis and Ray Potvin showing the men's clothes. Clothes ran the gamut from beach, swim and play togs through sleepwear and casual attire to pretty frocks, suits and coats, each worn with cor- rect accessories. New fabrics. were noted and atten- tion drawn to the practical and decorative industrial zipper. Bonded material, clothes particularly useful for travel because of their wrinkle-free material, jackets both short and in Chanel length, matching or contrasting, were seen with many models. Dusters which double for several uses, smart allweather coats, the popular skimmer and apparently perma- nent shift in many modes, all received close atten- tion. The choice of models in all age and size groups made the showing both interesting and prac- tical for would-be buyers. Since all the Kinettes were actively engaged in many capacities during the show the coffee break, with doughnuts and small cakes, was managed by Kinsmen Bill Weaver, Peter Speziale, Bill Miller, Bob Turner, Tony Speziale, Barry Harper, Jim McCuaig, .and Ray Guillet. Mrs .Weaver thanked the local hairdresser, Tony Commisso and cosmeticians Eileen Williamson and Emelyn St.Jean who donated their talents. McCuaig PUBLIC SPEAKING CONTEST ~ In the public speaking contest, sponsored by the Hydro Commission and held in Schreiber High School auditorium, there were two categories--prepared and impromptu speeches. In the first group Jim Lesauvage, Schreiber, won first prize - Doug Crosby of Marathon second and Doug Hall of Marathon third. Also entered were Carolyn Bredin of Geraldton and Carole Gaudet of Terrace Bay. In the second group Owen Hausehalter, Manitou- w adge won first prize with Chris Robinson of Gerald- ton and Gail Conrad of Marathon tied for other prizes. Others speaking in this class were Susanne Lemay of Terrace Bay and Gayle Worrell of Schreiber Schreiber Principal, O.B.Fasan, was chairman for the event with W.Woodrow as official timer. Judges were Ken MacLeod, Terrace Bay - Rev.Sister Frances Joseph, Principal of Schreiber Holy Angels' Separate School and the Rev. D.F.Muldrew. Mr.Muldrew announced the judges' decision and commented on the first speeches and Rev.Sister Frances Joseph the decision and comments on the impromptu speeches. | The students were accompanied by school staff mem bers, Mr.and Mrs.Harry Craig, Geraldton - J.Trant and J.Ashby, Manitouwadge, J.Terpstra and A. Hartman, Terrace Bay - H.M.Riddell and M.Steen, Marathon . The Catholic Girls' Club will hold their Daffodil Tea on May first in the Guild Hall with penny auc- tion as an additional attraction.
