Numerous items of correspondence warranted clar- ification by Councillors. One, regarding dogs running at large, could not be dealt with due to its anonymous nature. Councillor Brown replied to a letter concerning a previous bid for plowing drive- ways. This bid had been withdrawn by the operator when he had learned the requirements of the job - and had not been rejected by Council as had been assumed. Reference had also been made in this letter to the lighting of the ski slope. Councillors noted the Township is obliged to take power one hundred feet beyond the lot at the request of the consumer. The remainder of the lighting had then been completed at the expense of the Ski Club. A reply had been sent to the Township of Long Lac offering the fogging machine for the price of Nine Hundred Dollars. A bid was made to retain | the duplex being vacated by a minicipal employee for one of the Constables. Considerable correspondence had been exchanged among the committee and the townships involved in the proposed Home for Aged at Nipigon. Council felt it premature to appoint a representative to this committee because of their objection to capital costs and maintenance. A motion approved the attendance of Mr.Don Boudreau, Townsite Electrical Supervisor, and Councillor C.Kolody or alternate at the Association ] of Municipal Electric Utilities Conference in Toron- § to, February 28 to March 3. Recreation Accounts of $5,374.65 were passed for payment. Reeve Adamo requested a committee be formed to investigate and compare costs with neighboring Recreations before the Recreation Budget was set. Councillors Thompson and Brown with Recreation Committee Chairman, Mr.Ken MacLeod, were appointed to this committee. Tentative thought was given to hiring an assessor to re-assess the homes in town. Secretary Strutt will investigate the cost. Reeve Adamo will confer with other Reeves on this subject. On the suggestion of Councillor Cavanaugh a motion was passed to purchase new Canadian Flags. A request had been made to Councillor Brown to hava the services of the town snowblower on the shopping plaza. The request was denied as maintenance of sidewalks are the responsibility of the individual stores. Councillor Thompson reported though (Cont'd P.4)
