CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MEETING President N.Cornthwaite presided at the June Coungil meeting of Terrace Bay Chamber of Commerce Members present included L.Waghorn, W.Kujbida, Mrs.1.Marsh, L.Crandlemire, T.Costa and D.Large. Following adoption of last meeting's minutes the President gave the latest details on the proposed sign. Mrs.Marsh reported for the Centennial Committee who had checked and listed in order of merit, the nine proposals received. These had been turned over to Township Council but to date no word has been re- ceived on their choice. Sec.Treasurer D.Large reported on communications from the CBC and that no word had been forthcoming on brushing at Jackfish. The Boy Scout Committee had rejected a proposal that the scouts assume attending to the Gorge Trail as a project so a committee headed by T.Costa volun- teered to take care of the work. L.Waghorn, membership chairman, reported one new member, Mr.S.Boyd, Sr. A letter from Marathon Chamber, taking exception to certain omissions in an article in Trade & Commerce Magazine, coincided with viewspreviously expressed by the Terrace Bay Chamber. It was therefore moved "that Marathon be thanked for their interest and that | we follow the matter up. R.Hales, Kiwanis Club Fish De rby Chairman gave a b reakdown of the aims and objectives of this year's Derby and asked for assistance. This was granted and a list of members given to Mr.Hales. The Sec.Treasurer, while reiterat- ing his resignation agreed to act ina "name only" capacity until the gen- eral election in October. BEAUTY & BARBER SHOP Motor Hotel BLOOD DONORS CLINIC TO BE HELD HERE IN AUGUST An executive meeting of the local Cancer Society was held at the home of the President, Mrs. J.Chapman, with five members present. The Treasurer's report was given by Edna Beddard. At a special meeting. July 6th, Mrs. P.Rapke, campaign chairman, introduced Mr.Fearnall from Winnipeg who outlined details on the blood donors clinic to be held here on August 17th from 2 to 5 in the afternoon, also 6.30 to 9.30 in the evening at the High School. The last blood donor clinic was held here in 1959 with 265 people donating. On July 14, 15, 16 and 17 the mobile cancer information centre will be at the mill. On July 15th at 8 P.M. a special film presentation (2 films) for all interested persons will be shown at the Terrace Bay Community Church base ment, It is highly recommended for all per- sons to see.
