MENtS CHORUS PRESENT ANNUAL SPRING CONCERT The Spring Concert presented Friday evening by the Terrace Bay Men's Chorus in the Auditor ium, was their twelfth annual musicale. With the welcome given by Master of Ceremonies Neil Cornthwaite, and an outline of their growth since 1953, the audience were invited to enjoy first a quartette of sacred and spirituals, "Now Let Every Tongue Adore Thee", "De Animals At Comin*t, "Ezekial Saw De Wheel" and "Halle- luhiah Amen", The chorus appeared in choir the Terrace Art Club, and the scene most suitably was the Chancel of the Lady of the Snows at Squaw Valley, erected for the 1960. Winter Olymics. Conducting the Chorus was Mr. Bert Lohr and Pianist Mrs. S. Hodgkiss accompanied the singers. The first group of guest artists were introduced under the by-line of' the "Twangitears". Playing in the presently- popular guitar beat were John Bouchie on lead guitar, Carl Connors and Donald Pryor on | Rhythm guitars. Returning to the gentleman songsters, the curtain rose on a sea coast town with a bevy of sailing men around a mast to sing the sea shantys, "Blow the Man Down", "Roving", "ol? Jonah" and *01* Man Noah", point became so demanding, the Chorus remained to sing as encore "Shandoah". The next scene to appear was another created by local artists, this time the audience found themselves overlooking Boule- vard Lake in Port Arthur with the Sleeping Giant in the background. Again tracing their origin to the Beatle influence, these boys were: Dave Mercier on lead guitar, Kevin Mercier, rhythm guitar, Bruce Young on base guitar and Dan Schock on the drums. The final group of selections sang by the Chorus as they returned in formal attire were: MWithout A Song", "Tenderly", "The Long Day Closes" and "I Wish I Wuz" with solos by H. Coe and M. McCausland on the latter, to bring the curtain down finally amid thundering applause. Special thanks were expressed to Doug and Jerry Unger, also crews for lighting stage settings, and to the talent of the Art Club for their exeellent work on the scenery. M.C. Neil Corntbwaite, brought to the audiencets attention the participation of the local Men's Chorus in Big Sings, sending them off to Rochester, Minneapolis and St. Paul, Eau Claire and Fort William. Now they continue with one this year in Winnipeg. They have also been invited to participate in a Mass Sing at the Worlds: Fair in New York. An invitation was extended to the adult audience to join the Chorus for their After- glow held immediately following the concert at the Moose Hall.
