D®ARCY RE-ELECTED REEVE OF SCHREIBER Schreiber citizens re-elected Wm, E.DtArcy as Reeve for his eighth term, He polled 303 votes in a close race which showed runner-up W.J.Handel only ten votes behind with 293, Joseph McGrath headed the vote for Council- lor with 335, The other Councillor will be. 'Mrs. Inez McCuaig who received 264 votes. Both have had previous municipal experience, Mr.McGrath having served for two years on Council and Mrs. McCuaig, the first woman to be elected to Council, has served one year, Don Beno was runner-up with 258 votes - Mrs, Edna Cox polled 119 and D, D*Amour re- ceived 107 votes. The percentage of voters exercising their 'franchise dropped this year when only 60% turned up at the Polls, SCHREIBER CITIZEN'S FORUM HELD LAST WEDNESDAY A Citizents Forum was held in Schreiber Town Hall on December 6th, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, Chairman Gino Caccamo opened the meeting and introduced Mr. Alex Gordon who' spoke on the projected new High School, The incumbent Reeve, Wm. E, DfArcy, in a bid for re-election, promised a sincere effort to promote the good of the Town and paid tri- bute to George Gordon who could not stand for re-election to Council due to ill health, Nominee for Reeve, W.J.Handel, pledged his efforts towards town projects. Tips to Councillor candidates were given by Mr. F, Harness before candidates D.Beno, Mrs, Edna Cocks, D.D*Amours and Mrs, Inez MecCuaig gave their views. Joseph McGrath was unable to attend the meeting, Mr, Pat Guina spoke on the future of Schrei- ber before Hydro Commission candidate W.W. Wilkes commented, Another candidate, Jack E, Stokes, was out of town, A question and answer period preceded a highly amusing skit prepared and presented by members of the Schreiber High School Students? Council, A parody on Chamber of Commerce and Council meetings, the skits provided a Vight- hearted and mirth provoking interlude. The meeting closed with comments by Chair- man G, Caccamo and the' singing of "God Save The Queen," Accompanist for the evening was Mrs. J.D.Gryson.
