OF COMMER More than. the required number of interested citizens indicated their desire to form a Terrace Bay Chamber of Commerce by attending a formation meeting in the Recreation Centre last Wednesday night. : Chairman C,E,Paget, in his opening remarks, commented on the background of the Chamber of Commerce, Starting-in the middle of the 17th Century the Chamber, as we know it today, was largely developed by the Anglo-Saxons. Boards of Trade and Chambers of. Commerce are synony~ mous: - both having the same primary objects. After outlining the order of business, Mr. Paget invited D,Beno of the Schreiber Chamber of Commerce, to say a'few words. Mr. Beno extended the good wishes of his group--- offered every assistance. and stressed that the outlook should be district, and even Pro- vincial, in aspect, Explaining the procedure followed in form- ing a Chamber of Commerce, Mr,Paget then asked for signatures affixed to two copies of a Sufficient regis=- trants signing, Mr, J,Kelty then read the proposed By-laws which, after some discussion, were' adopted. Adamo, K, Weppler and Mrs, W.N.Marsh. Auditors elected were TH, Goodfellow and W. Baillie. With dues set, the application and certi- fication carrying approved number of signatures and the requisite fee forwarded to the Canadiai Chamber of Commerce - a Chamber for Terrace Bay seems 'assured,
