Reeve John Ferrier reflected how thrilled the people of this town had been as they followed the players through the season; the excitement running to a new high when ardent Superior fans found themselves rooting enthusiastically for pickups Al Lanteigne of the Mercuries and Jorgie Jorgenson of the Royals. The Team spirit displayed this year, was the same brand of team spirit that decided the playoffs in the National League, With all the trophies already offered, Reeve Ferrier felt there was still a very important one missing, and one in which he would like to see the C.A.H.A. take an interest - an award or trophy t> the team who had contrib- uted most to the advancement of hockey in Ontario, If there was such an award: he would immediately write a letter nominating the Terrace Bay Superiors. Councillor Des Evans-Smith, also personal- ly offering his congratulations to the team members had the pleasure of presenting a gift from the people of Terrace Bay in the form of a blazer showing the crest of Terrace Baye This was the first time the crest had been awarded and most fitting it should go to the 1960-61 Superiors, Dave Whalen, the playing Coach of the Superiors expressed the thanks of each member of the team for their gifts, Another token of appreciation had been intended from the Rec-~ reation Association, but unfortunately had been delayed. A letter was read from the Association to Team Manager Denny Hayes stating such a token would be forthcoming, Joe Adamo, President of the Superiors for the past season, thanked everyone individ- ually for the parts they effectively took in keeping the Club financially secure, and in the fine show of harmony within the Club, A presentation by the Superiors surprised Dr, John Whiteside who leaves shortly to further studies in Toronto.
