McColeman presiding and forty-two members present, Minutes and correspondence were read by the secretary, Mrs.B,Lidkea and the finan- cial statement was given by Mrs. Rod MacCuaig Mrs.Strocen was initiated into membership by the President, assisted by Warden, Mrs, K,.. Williamson, + The Convenor, Mrs. W,Lidkea, reported on plans for the forthcoming Salad Tea to be held in the Town Hall on April 16th when there will also be Candy, Bake and White Elephant tables. The Ways & Means Convenor, Mrs, I,Johnson, reported on the recent Bingo, An invitation was received from the White River Branch to attend their meeting on Apr. 20th. Several members plan to attend this function, A donation was made to the Schrei- ber Cancer Society, The Rally of all Auxiliaries in North- western Ontario will be held in Kakabeka Fall on September 22nd, Representatives to attend will be chosen at a later date. Mrs.R. Bedard repatdon Overseas Parcels, Mrs.B,Paradis and Mrs, A.Didura will con- vene the Birthday party held annually at the May meeting when district Auxiliaries are invited to attend, This will be in the form of a Cold Plate supper in the Town Hall on May 3rd. Following the meeting Penny Auction was held, convened by Mrs. I.,Johnson and Mrs, T. Whent, Tea hostesses serving lunch were Mesdames L.Halonen, E,Holmes, A, Johnson, I, Johnson and M,Hubelit, a! CRIBBAGE TOURNAMENT Registrations are 'now being 'received for those interested in entering the Spring Cribbage Tournament, 'Sessions will again be on Wednesday evenings, beginning before the end of April, depending on the number regis- tered, The fee is $1.00 to cover costs of prizes and a charge of 25¢ per night will be levied to cover costs of a windup stag. A general meeting will' be held shortly to set up a governing committee and rules. Register at the Recreation Office or the Tool Crib at the Mill, NOW, FIRST AID COURSE: «©! The Adults! First Aid Course begins this Wednesday (April 13th) from 8-10 P.M, in the Curling Lounge. Only those who regis- tered in advance may attend, Instructions will be 'handled by Mr.R.Wills and sessions will run for six consecutive Wednesdays. Fifteen people have registered, Successful candidates will receive St.John'!s certificates, =: EASTER CLOSING - RECREATION CENTRE The Lounge section of the Recreation Centre will close at 5 P.M, on Good Friday and will be closed all day on Easter Sunday. Regular open hours will be observed on Saturday. CHILDREN'S ART CLASSES The Spring Art Course for children opens on Monday, April 25th. No registrations will be accepted after the open- ing session, YOUTH CONFERENCE NEXT WEEK ~ The time of the Northwestern Ontario Youth Conference, being held this year in Marathon, is fast approaching, On Thursday, April 21st, over 300 delegates from Teen Clubs through- out the area will gather for a four-day programme of discussions on the Teenager and Home, the Teenager and the Community, the Teenager Tomorrow, These subjects will be introduced by three very prominent people: Mrs.Eleanor Reesor, Y.W.C,A, Public Relations Director, Professor Bernard Hill of the Uni- versity of Manitoba School of Social Work, and Dr. C,H.Reason, To outline the impact. that this annual Conference has had on the-area since its inception eight years ago, would be virtually impossible. The mature planning and adminis- trative skills displayed by these young people the outstanding manner in which they handle the Conference, would be a great lesson to many adult groups. Now the largest Conference of its kind in North America, the Northwestern Ontario Youth Conference stands as a determined effort by our youngsters to prepare themselves for a better and more useful adult life, It is a credit to their ability, Competent supervision by adult counsellors, 'strict disciplinary rules (laid down by the host committee) and a rigid schedule, allow for no wasted time, Delegates are billeted in specially chosen private homes, and must "obey curfew hours and attend all sessions, Eighteen Terrace Bay teenagers, chosen by a point system on their work at Teen Town throughout the year, will attend this year's Conference, They are the top point-getters from the local club members, all. of. whom have worked hard all year in club (Cont'd page 11) Whi MONSTER...
