SION INSPECTION SATURDAY A group of Officials will arrive in Schrei- ber on Saturday, September 20th, to con- duct the annual inspection of the St.John Ambulance Nursing group. The event will be held in the Town Hall at 7.30 P.M, and the Public are urged to witness this inspection and to hear a talk by Mr.Fred Farrell, Area Ambulance Officer from Fort William. Mr.Farrell has just returned from Arnprior, Ontario where he attended a First Aid Course Conference at the Civil Defense College as the representative of all Lakehead Instructors. Topic of his address will be the new Manual on Civil Defense which is to be used here. Classes will commence at the beginn- ing of October and registrations for membership in the classes will open on Saturday evening, An invitation is extended to all pub- lic spirited citizens of the District to register and attend these classes and learn how the St.John Ambulance Group plan to deal with Civil De'fense here. NORTH SHORE NURSES GROUP MEETS. The North Shore Nurses Group held their first meeting of the Fall in the Terrace Bay Curling Lounge on Monday Night with a good attendance. Mrs,M, z2ttler of Schreiber, chaired the meet- ing and introduced Miss Dorothy Adams President of R.N.A.O. District No.10 and Miss K, Escott Past President. Miss Adams gave a very interesting talk on the Registered Nurses Associa- tion of Ont ario and what it means to _ every graduate Nurse. A representative from each district attends the annual meeting in Toronto and places before that group the problems of the individual districts and for that reason have asked that the North Shore group should have a representative in the district organiza- tion and set forth our problems in this area and to let them know what is being done in orr district. The next meeting of the R,NA.O. District No.10 will be held' in Fért William November 20th, 1958+: and Miss Adams asked that a representa- tive councillor be sent to represent the North Shore group on the executive and that as many as possible of the Nurses should attend this meeting. Following. the. meeting lunch was. served by the hostess group, Terrac> Bay. <ar-neueeeaeecertaeceetaaittr nt get te EC A A CC A Nn ere carretera cane apa AOR RET Sone cheatin = = mempemennacnpeseee' Vol.1, No.8 COURSE September 18, 1958, PLANNED DRAMA WORKSHOP TO BE HELD A drama workshop is to be held at the Que- tico Conference and Training Centre on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 24, 25 and 26, The workshop will be open to anyone inter- ested in drama and is planned to allow drama enthusiasts to mutually discuss and receive instruction in acting techniques, play anal- ysis, make-up, stage ethics, lighting, directing and other drama items. Instruction at the course will be given by a topflight dramatic instructor recommended by the Ontario Drama Council. Registrations for the workshop are to be returned to the Community Programmes Branch, Ontario Department of Education, 400 Cathe r-- ine Street, Fort William by Tuesday, Sept. 23rd, 1958. Further information may be obtained from the Recreation Committee office or from the Community Programmes Branch. DELEGATES ATTEND HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATIVE INST. Mrs. C. Buck and Mrs.B. Hayes, as delegat- es from Terrace Bay Private Hospital, attended a Hospital Administrativé Institute in Sudbury on September 12th. Fifty or sixty representatives from all over Ontario were present, Members of the Ontario Hospital Services Commission presented the latest information regarding the new Ontario Hospital Insurance Plan, FIRE PREVENTION WEEK OCTOBER 5TH TO 11TH "DON'T GIVE FIRE A PLACE TO START" \ Watch for the Terrace Bay Fire Prevention Housewife Contest COUNCIL MEETS IN SCHREIBER Reeve D'Arcy and the full council attended the regular September meeting. It was report- ed that the work on the flagpole had been done but that a meeting with the Board of Health in regard to cesspool seepage had not yet been arranged. The CPR stated by letter that it was not necessary to have motorized valve at chlor- inization plant, and that their B & B master Pipefitter had instructed several of the fire brigade in the operation of valves at the pump house. Council will request the Company to erect the permanent platform and wheel as promised, A letter was received from A.,Alcorn Insur- ance regarding Life Insurance and Income' Wage guarantees for town employees and members of volunteer fire brigade.
