PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS The school term starting in September 1958 will see the following new additions to the staff of the Fublic School. The new principal is Mr. William Colborne of Timmins, Ontario. Mr, Colborne is married and has two sons, ages 13 and 10 and a daughter, aged 8. He comes to us with 1° years of successful teaching experience, both as a principal and classroom teacher. He was principal of the Sioux Lookout Frublic School from 1940 to 1953, during which time it grew from a nine to a twelve room school. Uuring the war he was first in Army Intelligence, later an Education Officer, and organized and was first principal of the Canadian Army Khaki Collegiate at Tuxedo, Manitoba, The term 1957-58 was spent as teacher of one of the two accelerated Grade eight classes in Timmins, and taught Jritish History within the school rotary system. He also drew up and carried out a special study course for all the Grade eight classes in the school. to prepare them for their Secondary School work. Mr. Colborne is then, a fully qualified teacher having a Permanent First Class Certificate as well as certificates for special courses in Art, Education, Visual Aids, and Frincipal's Administration. His university work was with the University of Western Ontario. Miss Rose Leschuck, now teaching at Geraldton, Frublic School, Mrs. Jean Woods presently teaching at Thessalon, and Miss Marjorie saker, a native of Fort William, now attending the University of Arizona, complete the new teachers for the 1958-59 term, % e & # LAKES OPEN FOR TRaVEL ALONG TRANS-CANADA HIGHWAY White Kiver.......Lakes along the route of the Trans-Canada Highway No. 17 between White Kiver and Wawa are to be opened for travel and sale of summer resort sites as a result of many inquiries for land from Canada and the U.S. First of such lakes to be opened for summer resort development.will be Black Trout and Catfish Lakes, seven miles north of Jamestown. A preliminary subdivision of the shorelines indicates availability of 110 lots on the two lakes.
