On Thursday evening, April 17th, at 7:00 psm, there will be a meeting of special interest in the Church Hall when Rev, Dr. Prior, a minister of the United Church of Canada, who has spent several years in Nigeria, Angola, and other parts of South Africa, will deliver an address and show a film on his work, Everyone is cordially invited to this meeting, following which 'there will be a-social hour, SILVER BIRCH CHAPTER ~ Order of the Eastern Star, held their regular meeting on Monday evening, April 14th with Barbara Haughn Worthy Matron and Harris Haughn worthy Patron, presiding, Routine business was trans*cted and plans were made for the annual Bridge and Court' Whist to be held in the Hotel Terrece Friday, May 30th. It was announced that Worthy Grand Matron Sister Lillas B. Turiff would be visiting the Chapter on June 12th, During the social hour refresh- ments were served by Mrs. Mary Baillie, Convenor and her committee of Mesdames Catherine Whitton, Ursula Wills, Audrey Rowley, Bert Duncan and Annie Bailey, ST. MARTIN'S CHURCH - Saturday April 19th - Confessions 3-4 p.m & 7-9 pom - Sunday April <cth - Masses 8:15 and 9:30 a.m. Benediction Sunday evening at 7:30 Mass during the week 8:00 a.m. Saturday at 8:30 a.m. C.W.L, SPRING BAZAAR - Mrs, Rita Newell who convened St, Martin's Catholic Women's League Annual Bazaar held last Saturday, reports that it was very successful. Sincere thanks to all patrons, ladies of the Parish who donated so generously and worked so herd. Owing to the fact that the oil painting hasn't been on display long enough the draw will be held at the amual Membership Tea in May. Anyone interested in tickets may obtain them by calling 3552, Mrs, Kerrigan from Schreiber drew the lucky tickets and winners were: lst door prize - Laurie Mae Marcella; 2nd - Terrance Hobin, 3rd - Wanda Gorman, and the Quilt - Mrs. Peggy Regis. THE MONTHLY MEETING - of the Catholic Women's League was held on Sunday April 13th. Father Gallagher read the League Prayer and Mrs, Peggy Helmink opened the general meeting, The various committees were called to give their reports: Mrs. Eva Connors reporting on the March 17th Tag Day; Mrs. Rita Newell reporting on the successful Spring Bazaar. it was announced that Mrs. Helmink has been chosen for Third Vice President in the Pro- vincial League, replacing Mrs, Hubert Badani, a position not previously held by a member of our Sub-division, Father Gallagher congratul- ated Mrs, Helmink and spoke with high praise for her work in the past. The meeting was adjourned and turned over to the Nominating Committee headed by Mrs. Germaine McMillan, The new slate of officers for the year are: (cont'd on page 6.)
