} WORT SHORE HOCKEY LEAGUE WEEKLY BULLETIN Recently announced by the Terrace Bay Amateur Hockey Association is the appointment of Murdo D, Campbell, who will replace Ron R. Faust on the Board of Governors of the North Shore Hockey League, The vacancy of Alternate' -- Governor caused by this appointment is still to be filled, Because of some doubt in the minds of some of the local hockey fans, it is this reporter's intention to keep abreast the functions of the North Shore Hockey League. "Each team holding an active franchise with the League at their annual meeting are to elect two Governors and one Alternate Governor, all of whom shall not hold office whatsoever with any member club, These officials shall constitute the Board of Governors, Should any vacancy occur on the Board, the vacancy shall be filled by the Executive of the Member Club which is effected. Further, following their Annual meeting and at their first. Executive meeting, Member Glubs are to elect one Director and one Alternate Director, and both must be. officers or Executive members of the.Club they represent. Directors, Governors.and Life Members.constitute the Executive Committee, Life Membership is the highest honour that can be bestowed by the League, and is to be awarded only for very distinctive services to the League. The number of Life Members shall at no time exceed three. (3) and elections ofsame shall be restricted to those who have served on the Board of Governors, In further issues of the News, we shall define the duties of the Board of Governors and the Executive Committee, as well as the Chaired Officers of the League. o-0-0 BERT RATCHFORD NEW RECREATION CHAIRMAN At a special election meeting on December 2lst, Bert Ratchford was unanimously elected Chairman of the Terrace Bay Recreation Committee, At the same meeting Joe Adamo was re-elected as Vice-Chairman. C. E. Paget as Chairman of the Improvement District Board expressed the appreciation of the town to the two (cont'd. next colum) BERT RATCHFORD Page 8 NEW RECREATION CHAIRMAN Cont'd, retiring members Ron Faust and Mo, Nelson, Ron has headed fund raising, and has also put a lot of work into other committee activities, plus the operation of the coke and cigarette machines, Mo, has been Chairman for the past two years, and most of his activities have been devoted to operation of the Centre, Any new comers to Terrace Bay might be interested in knowing that the Recreation Committee has been delegated the operation, maintenance and program of the swimming pool, ball diamonds, playgrounds, wading pool, tennis court, tot lots and the Recreation Centre, plus the evening operation of the Auditorium. The Committee in turn delegates the control of this activity to a Recreation Director, who in turn is in charge of a permanent staff, The Conmittee reserves the setting of policy and giving approval to new programs, but this is usually done on the Director's recommendations. The Recreation Committee spends approximately $45,000.00 per year and takes in approximately #30,000,00 with the difference made up in municipal taxation, Main expenditures are wages, mainten- ance, heat, electricity, swim program, auditorium rental and programs. Main receipts are membership fees - $6,000.00; Government Grant - $3,000.00; Activity Fees ~ $1,500.00; Concession rentals ~ $6,000,00; Library rental - $600, Hockey gates = 3,500.00; Coke and Cigarette sales - $2,000.00, The Recreation Director or any committee member would be pleased to explain any of the above items, 0-0-0 CURLING CLUB NEWS The second round of curling finished on Friday evening last week. As the result several changes will take place in the different divisions before the next round of play begins.
