CURLING CLUB NEWS Entries are now being accepted for the Mixed Bonspiel which will take place the week starting November 5th. Rune Ostling is the chairman for this Bonspiel and all entries should be given to him, This bonspiel with.the LongLac Pulp and Paper Co. trophy at stake, will be run off inthe evenings starting Monday November 5th with the first draw at 7:00 Pem, and the second draw at 9:00 p.m. and there will be two draws every evening until a Winner is declared. Entries will be received until Nov. 1. The rules governing this spiel are as follows: 1, Entry fee - $4,00 per woe "2. Each rink will be guaranteed two games, 3. Each rink shall consist of two men and two women 4. The Bonspiel is open to all residents of Terrace Bay who are members of the Terrace Bay Rec. Association, 5« Rinks shall place their players in the following order: Skip ~ Man Vice Skip - Woman Second - Man Lead - Woman All rinks will complete the bonspiel as started, example, the skip and second will not be allowed to change positions once play starts, 6, Prizes, winners will receive the LongLac trophy for mixed curling and each member of the rink a turkey, Runner up (2nd) prize will be a chicken to each player. If enough rinks are entered consol- ation prizes will be awarded and will be turkeys for the winners of the consolation event and chickens for second prize, SHOTS FROM THE HACK There is much activity in the curl- ing club rink this week, The ice is being painted, which is the first step in getting a good sheet of ice to curl on. This work is being headed up by Louis Duquette and Louis promises a first class job, To paint these four sheets of ice about 250 lbs. of white paint are used along with smaller amounts of red and blue for the circles, This work will be completed bes fore the weekend and ice should be avail- able for curling next week, Entries are coming in rather slowly (Cont. on next col.) However we expect to receive more entries now the time for curling is almost here and the weather is more in keeping with this popular winter pastime, Veteran curlers are once again asked to try and include one or two new curlers on their rink for the forthcoming mixed Bonspiel, This will give those who have not curled and desire to do so that much needed chance to break into the gane. There are still eleven lockers in the club rooms with locks on. This is a con- siderable inprovement over last week. Will the people owning these locks please remove them some time this week, The curl- ing rink will be open every evening, Remember the deadline October 26th, It is hoped by Rune Ostling that plenty of entries are received for the mixed "spiel as this will mean more fun and more prizes. To those who would like to enter and are not on a rink please leave your name with Rune or enter it on a sheet posted on the bulletin board in the club rooms and he will trv and assist in placing you on a rink, 0-0-0 CREDIT UNION ANNUAL MEETING The Terrace Bay Community Credit Union wishes to announce that their Annual Meeting will be held at Hotel Terrace on Saturday, November 17th, Dinner at 6:30 pom.
