Sweet --- --- THE CAUSE OF FIRE In Ontario last year fires claimed the lives of 198 people, 74 of them children. In addition, $29,000,000 worth of property went up in flames. Fire in the home is a horrifying prospect to parents, yet careless--- ness is the cause of many conflagretions in which youngsters perish, The Ontario fire marshal's office estimates that up to 90 per cent of last year's 23,213 fires had'no other cause but carelessness. This is Fire Prevention Week, an approp- riate time to give thought to the approach of winter and the consequent increase in the fire hazard. It is the responsibility of every person to inspect his home to make sure it is free of inflarmatory material, faulty wiring or damaged chimneys or stovepipes. Anyone who is in doubt about what constitutes a fire hazard or who has no idea about the condition of the electrical system in his house should call on his local fire depart- ment to inspect the premises. Firemen are experts in spotting dangerous conditions, What is more, they like to stop fires before they begin, You can help them do that, 0-0-0 Page 8 REMEMBRANCE DAY DINNER TICKETS All tickets available have been allocated to sections of the mill and the townsite as follows with sellers indicated: Townsite Stores, Hydro - G.Black (L.C.B.0.)
