In order to prepare for these races, all children must. attend swim lessons regularly. We will be needing transportation to Marathon on this date, If you think you can help out, please phone the Rec. Office and leave your name, TENNIS CLUB TOURNAMENT The Marathon Tennis Club would like to play a home and return tournament this. month. They would like to come to ' Terrace Bay first, then a return game in Marathon at a later date, In order for _you to play in this tournament, you must be a paid-up member of our local club. LACROSSE _INSTRUCTORS_WN: NEEDED Last Friday, kd B Bowlin, the Assistant Director of Recreation in Marathon, brought a team of boys from Marathon from the ages of 13 to 16 years, to play against our boys, We sure were beaten, but it looks like the game could be played very easily in our Arena if we are fortunate enough to have a man in town who has some know- 'ledge of the game and could help out our boys by teaching them to play lacrosse, If you coudl assist us, please phone the Rec, Office and leave your name, We have 13.sticks on loan from Marathon now, It is a great game to put people in condition for the coming hockey season. ~~ ow NORTH CAMP SOFTBALL Last Thursday evening, experience proved to be the deciding factor in the Canaries! 21-10 win over the Budgies, Many players were trying the game for the first time, but are improving steadily and show promise of making the future games better than those already pleyed, Some interest is being shown in these games by people from the Townsite, and bleachers have been installed for the spectators, On Sunday, the Canaries again defeated the Budgies, this time by a score of 23-9, Many of the Regular Budgies were on long- (Cont. on next col,) Page 5 RECREATION FLYER (Cont, ) ends or working. For the losers, St. ' Denis hit a grand slam homerun and McLeod / also hit a homer, The Budgies made some fine defensive plays as well, as Potyuk, after hitting what looked like a home run was tagged out at home by Les Bougie, after a relay from Tanner and McLeod, Swirhun made a backhand catch in deep centre field to rob Hovey of a home run, PLAYGROUND PATTER Monday morning saw the Juniors busy making pin-wheels, while some enjoyed a game of ball. During Monday afternoon, swimming lessons and games were held for the kiddies, On Tuesday the boys had archery lessons, while the girls enjoyed the movies of "Ti-Jean Goes Lumbering", "Prairie Birds in the Marshes" and "Royal Tour of New Zealand", In the afternoon, the record crowd of 200 people were in attendance, After their lessons, the children painted their plaster of Paris models, Also, on Tuesday afternoon the Senior held their first session of diving lessons. On Wed- nesday, the children enjoyed doing paper crafts. As a result of costume judging on Friday of Circus Week, the following were the awards: Funniest Couple - Velma LeBlanc Glenny Mann - Sandie Synishin Raymond Woods - Barbara Jenstrom Larry Stevens PLEASE NOTE: Next week we will be having a Fairy Tale Week, with ALL the children, including Juniors, Intermediates and Seniors, participating. There will be fairy stories, fairy tale crafts, and on Friday, all the children will be dressed in their favourite fairy tale costumes as they parade the streets, Cutest Couple Best Dressed 0-0-0 NOTICE Would anyone who has tools borrowed from the Townsite Dept, please return them immediately, We are short shovels, rakes, two rubber tired wheel barrows, & cross cut saw and various other small tools.
