TERRACE SUPERIORS SWAMP GERALDTON GOLDMINERS IN BOTH WEEKEND GAMES Saturday evening before a ae erund of 495 roaring fan. Terrace Bay Superiors completely out-classed the Geraldton Gold Miners in the opening game of the 1955-56 N.SsHeL. schedule, by dumping them 14-6, Three hat tricks were performed by Terrace Bay players, dim Moro getting four goals, Maurice Osmar three goals and Dave (Winky) Whalen three goals. The line of Whalen, Osmar and Osmar accounted for 8 of the Superiors 14 goals and played stand-out hockey. The line of Moro-Chorney-Milani were very effective around the nets and accounted for the. other six goals. For Geraldton, Rusnak and Duceminski wers the standouts, although Joe Duhaime was his old self as a defense stalwart, and showed some of his old form from last season. Sunday's Game - WHALEN STARS' AS Terrace Bay Superiors Swamp Geraldton 13-3. Playing as they had played' the prev- ious evening, Terrace Bay again ran rampage over the visiting Geraldton Goldminers, The only differente! in'thd' Playing was that the third line of Bond,Stachiw, and Cavanaugh played stand-out hockey and accounted for three goals (their first points of the new sea on). To see these toy-bull- dogs in action is a sight for sore eyes, The big gun for Terrace was Dave Whalen who potted four goals past the sometime helpless Thompson. The Moro-Chorney line although play- ing without their side-kick Milani (out with a shoulder injury) managed to get three goals and played excellent hockey all the way. Wéaver in the nets for Terrace Bay was a stand-out and was beaten only on screened shots--without "Chick Thompson" in the Geraldton nets the score would have been much higher, time and time again he had to cope with an onrushing horde of Terrace Bay players as they swarmed through his Defense and pelted rubber at him at all angles, His play in the nets was superb and he received many applauds from the crowd on -his spectacular saves, - Ten penalties in all were ianded "out 'by referees Pinneault and Hayes, six to Ropes Bay and four to ere.
