'Volume 3, No. 40 KOREAN RELIEF CLOTHING DRIVE Tuesday, October 13th is the date of the Terrace Bay clothing drive for Korean relief. Canvassers from the Ladies Auxiliary of the Community Church will call at every house in the' Townsite on this day to pick up donations. Enquiries have been received regarding suitability of articles for shipment to Korea. The following guide may be of help in selecting your donations: All items of apparel - children's and adults which are clean and practical. Mended clothing is quite acceptable but should be sturdy enough for several months wear, Footwear - in good condition - children's shoes, snow-boots, overboots, men's shoes, and women's shoes of the lower heel and closed heel and toe types. Quilts and blankets which are clean and good for at least six months use, The need is great, and it is hoped that Terrace Bay will respond to this appeal with its' usual generosity, Any help we send will mean a lessening of hardship for those un- fortunate people who have suffered so much, and may bring them a glimmer of hope for a better future. Residents who are out when the canvasser calls may have their donations picked up Wednesday evening, by calling Mrs. Dodge (rhone 385) or Mrs. Byers (phone 429) during the day. 0-0-0 LARGEST CIRCULATION IN TERRACE Bay October Sth, 1953. BAZAaR Everyone in town knows by now that the Catholic Women's League are sponsoring a Bazaar in the basement of St. Martin's Church on Saturday, October 10th at 2:30 p.m. Their display of knitted goods, home baking, novelties, baby wear, candy, etc. is something to see, THe children will enjoy the candied apples; pop,Hot Dogs, pop corn and, espec- ially the Fish Pond. The big draw will take place in the evening after games have been played and there will be coffee and doughnuts served. All ticket holders are obliged to re- turn stubs not later than Saturday, at 6:90 pem. in order that they may be placed in the drum for the Big Draw. 0-0-0 FIRE PREVENTION WEEK This being Fire Prevention Week, an earnest plea is made to all residents of this Community to be as Fire Prevention conscious as is possible, in the hope that it will become a habit for the other 51 weeks of this and other years, Our local Fire Department has been busy inspecting home basements, conducting Fire drills at the schools and other contests (cont. on page 6) 8TH.
