You fill out an application form and hand it along with twenty-five cents (member- ship fee) to any member of the Executive. Your application will be passed on at the next Executive meeting and if you are accepted then you may deposit the $100.00, Thus you own twenty shares in the Union, This money is insured by the Credit Union and if you should die while it is on deposit, then your heirs will receive double-this amount ($200.00), But, let us say that you don't die, but instead you need $100,00, The idea then, is to borrow this amount from the Union and agree to pay it back in regular payments in not more than two years. You will be charged interest at the rate of one percent per month on the unpaid balance; - i.e. at payments of 910,00 per month, your interest will be one dollar the first month, nincty-conts the second and so on, This interest is the earned money of the Credit Union and you as a shareholder will reccive a part of this profit (a dividend), at the end of the year, Thus you interest rete will be reduced, This loan of yours is also insured and so, if you die while Owing part or all of the loan, your heirs do not make any payments whatsoover, ; h But, maybe you need more than 300,00, maybe you nced $200.00 or even $300.00, Well, all you have to do is fill out 4 loan request form and the Credit Committee will talk it over and decide on the matter.
