A. of St. Paul's United Church, Beardmore, held their November meeting on Wednesday, November 16, in the church hall. Weather and road conditions restricted attendance. Mrs. C. Campbell presided, and Mrs. G. Marek acted as secretary in the absence of the regular secretary, Mrs. R. Herlihy. Mrs. L. M. Lein directed the devotional period. In the absence of the treasurer, Mrs. R. Nylund, the report was read by Mrs. C. Sharpe. A substantial balance was reported. Discussion of the March of Dimes was deferred to the December meeting. The large parcel of clothing for Korean children, collected by the Explorers, was reported on its way to Presan. The W. A. paid the postage. Final arrangements were made for the annual bazaar to be held in the church hall on Friday, November 25, 8 to 10 p.m. The Explorers were granted permission to operate a candy booth and the C. G. I. T. will sell candy apples, popcorn, cookies, etc. A letter was received from Mrs, C. Wright, a former member who moved to Schreiber, expressing her thanks for her farewell gift of silver spoons. The meeting decided to restore the birthday penny fund. A nominating committee with Mrs. G. Jardine, Mrs. C. Anderson and Mrs. G. Marek as members, was appointed to bring in a slate of officers for the December meeting. Mrs. L. C. Sharp gave a brief talk on Christian stewardship, stressing that the W. A. members should be concerned with Christian stewardship in other groups in the church, such as C.G.I.T. Explorers, Sunday school, etc. Mrs. L. C. Sharp and Mrs. G. Marek volunteered to clean the church for the next month. Following the meeting, lunch was served by Mrs. M. Baldwin, Mrs. C. Anderson and Mrs. D. R. Clarke. NIPIGON The November meeting of the Lutheran Bethany Sisters was held Wednesday, November 16, at the home of Mrs. H. Johnson. Vicar Davis led the opening prayers and devotional period. Two carols were sung, Hark the Herald Angels Sing and O Come All Ye Faithful. Mr. Davis announced a Cradle Roll will be started for the first time the following Sunday, and children in this age group will be welcome. The president, Mrs. A. Loik, welcomed one new member to the group. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Mrs. O. Lange, followed by the treasurer's report Joy Mrs. T. Tuomaala. Bible study will be started at the next meeting in January. A motion to order more chairs for the church was passed. After some discussion it was decided to dispense with the annual box of fruit and candy given the Sunday school children at the annual Christmas concert, as they would be treated to a lunch by the Sisterhood group the same evening. In other business the meeting decided a family night will be held at the church, Sunday, November 27, at 7.30 p.m. It is hoped to have a candlelight service on Christmas morning at 8.30. Mrs. O. Lange will be the representative to the thrift shop. Mrs. O. Kaustinen volunteered to clean the church in December. It was decided ;to subscribe to the Lutheran Women's Quarterly for one year. The next meeting will be : held at the home of Mrs. T. Mikkola with Mrs. O Kaustinen as co-hostess on Friday, January 20, 1961. The meeting closed with the members joining in the Lord's Prayer led by Mr, Davis. Lunch was served by the hostess, Mrs. H. Johnson, and co-hostess Mrs. L. Mukala.
