8 Thursday, April 13, 1861 SCHREIBER SCRIBBLES SANTA COMES DOWN AND LIGHTS GO UP by Nora McGuire Easter holidays are over for another year and things are beginning to get back to normal again. The weather was sunny all week, and bikes came out of the basements and garages for another year. The children seemed to spend endless hours skipping in the middle of the road of course, which made it rather hazardous for drivers. There is still lots of water but these sunny days are putting an end to our snow. The next thing we know we'll be crabbing about the blackflies instead of the weather. Guess we're never satisfied. Had a phone call from Mrs. Bob Kragero wondering how I liked their light arrangement on the T.V. aerial. Remember old Santa was up there on the mountain all winter? The weather was quite favorable at last to make a change, so our town now boasts of a beautiful white, yellow and red lights atop the mountain. Many citizens remarked how nice it was to see lights burning up there anytime of the night as they looked out. Hoorah for one public-minded citizen, Bob Kragero, who even booked off his job on the Railroad to do the job in time for Easter as weather isn't always favorable to climb a high T.V. aerial. Harold and Kay Gellert returned from Winnipeg after spending Easter visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. P. Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Neil Carmichael and Carl Johnson, Winnipeg, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Al Johnson during Easter holidays.
