L.H. Community Church

New Community Church Opened

Church services were held in the new ultra-modern Terrace Bay Community Church on Sunday, December 9 when the morning church service was conducted by the Minister, Rev. Arthur F. Lavender. The evening service was conducted by Rev. Owen G. Barrow who in Terrace Bay's early days shared ministerial responsibilities with Rev. Lavender when Community Church services were conducted in the original Recreation Hall with the billiard tables in the background.

The official dedication of the Church took place on Wednesday evening, December 12. Rev. C. H. Best of Winnipeg conducted the ceremony of dedication and Rev. M. Goodman of Fort William was guest preacher. Representing the Presbytery of Superior was Rev. E. S. Stephens. Following the dedication a social hour was held in Church Hall.

LAST JUNE, plans were announced for the new Community Church at Terrace Bay. Co-op at that time printed the architectural sketch of the building. Above is the same view of the building. It was used for the first time for services on December 9, marking another substantial forward stride in the facilities for full living in the community.
