- Description
- This is a bayonet that would have been designed to fit on the muzzle of a rifle or musket. Unique markings include a crown with the inscriptions “40”, “WHEELER”, “O”, and a “V” on the front of the blade. On the socket there are also inscriptions which are “QLI” (underlined) then “H” (underlined) below and “18” (underlined) below that. The tip of the blade is also slightly curved. The bayonet blade is 43 cm in length x 2.5 cm wide and the socket is 10 cm long.
