- This is the cross belt plate of the 6th Regiment of Foot (1st Warwickshire). It is oval shaped with “1st. Warwickshire” engraved around the edge. In the centre is an antelope with one foreleg raised and a chain at the neck falling to the ground. Just below this is engraved “VI REGIMENT”. There are three plugs on the reverse side.
This regiment arrived in Canada in July 1814 and left for Ostend in July 1815. The 6th formed General Brisbane`s Brigade, along with the 82nd, and participated in the Battle of Lundy’s Lane and the siege and sortie of Fort Erie. Commanding Officers were Archibald Campbell (August –October 1814), and John Thomas Robertson (November 1814-February 1815).
