Description
This is said to be a fragment of Major General Sir Isaac Brock’s original casket donated by the Lundy’s Lane Historical Society. It was acquired by a veteran of the War of 1812-1814 upon the destruction of the casket as a result of an explosion. Pieces of the casket were given to various veterans of the war as a token of gratitude for their service.

The wood fragment is irregularly shaped but is approximately 4cm x 4 cm. The item was donated within a silver plated trinket box that is four footed and has a braided design around the outside of the bottom part’s top and the lid. The markings on the base read “Marlboro Plate, Old English, Reproduction, E.P. Copper B.M., Mounts S. 75”.

It was given to the Lundy`s Lane Historical Society by the family of Jemima Van Wyck, granddaughter of Gilbert Van Wyck.
